Fuerteventura/ Big Game Fishing/ Lanzarote - Teneriffa

Frau und Mama kommt 

28.9 – 09.10.15 (Martin)

Nachdem wir Baraneks verabschiedet haben, reinigen wir die First Step, waschen Wäsche kaufen ein und bereiten uns auf die Ankunft von Petra (Mama) vor. Da in dem kleinen Hafen von Puerto del Castillo (laut Hafenführer hat dieser Hafen 10 Gastliegeplätze - in Wahrheit ist es  einer!) der einzige Platz belegt ist ankern wir 2 Nächte: in Puerto de la Torre und vor der Hauptstadt von Fuerteventura Puerto del Rosario. Hier kaufen wir in einem Hiper Dino (großer Supermarkt) ein und, da er mitten in der Stadt liegt, fragen wir nach einem Shuttleservice. Diesen gibt  es zwar nicht, aber der Marktleiter fährt uns mit seinem Geländewagen direkt zu unserem Dinghy.

After we said goodbye to the Baraneks, we cleaned the First Step, did the laundry and prepared the arrival from Petra (mom). Because the little harbor of Puerto del Castillo (the harbor-guide tells you, that there will be 10 visitor berths, but there is only one) was full, we anchored for 2 nights: in Puerto de la Torre and before the capital of Fuerteventura Puerto del Rosario. Here we are shopping groceries in the Hiper Dino (big supermarket) and ask for a delivery service. They sadly did not have one, but the boss said, he will bring us down directly to the Dinghy with his SUV.

und wir bleiben 2 Tage in Castillo – wir liegen direkt zum Strand und können tgl. baden.

and we stayed 2 days in Castillo- we are laying directly to the beach and were able to swim on a daily basis.

Big Game Fishing

Am nächsten Tag haben Micha und ich einen Fishingtrip zum Marlin fischen gebucht. In dieser Woche hatten sie bereits etliche Marlins gefangen und wir wollten dies live erleben.

On the next day Micha and I booked a fishing trip to catch some Marlin. In this week they have already catch several marlins and thats what we wanted to experience.

Es war sehr beeindruckend, diese 8 Angelruten + rollen mit 150 lbs. dicker Schnur mit 1500 Meter Länge zu sehen! Es gab 5 Highrigger, jeweils 2  auf jeder Seite und einen in der Mitte, sowie 3 Schleppangeln im mittleren Bereich des Bootes.

It was really impressive to see these 8 fishing rods + fishing reels with 150lbs. thick lure with a length of 1500 meter! There were 5 highrigger, 2 on each side and one in the middle, also 3 fishing rods trawling behind the boat.

Leider war es uns nicht vergönnt- und so kehrten wir nach 4 Stunden zurück – 2 Flossen von Blue-Marlins haben wir gesehen - das war leider alles.

Sadly we had no bite at all and so we came back after 4 hours- we only saw 2 fins of a blue Marlin, but that was it. 

Lanzarote

Am nächsten Tag ging es nach Isla de Lobo (eine Insel zwischen Fuerteventura und Lanzarote). Hier  blieben wir über Nacht vor Anker, morgens ein Bad im klaren Wasser  und dann ging es  weiter nach Lanzarote – Marina Rubicon.

On the next day we went to the Isla de Lobo (an Island between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote). We stayed here during the night on a anchor and took a little swim in the morning before we headed to Lanzarote- marina Rubicon.  

Bereits beim Anlegen fanden sich 2 sehr hilfsbereite Deutsche ein, Martin und Nicole  von der SY Tapati und wir verstanden uns auf Anhieb. So wurde manches Bier gemeinsam getrunken  und wir genossen diese Zeit sehr. Die 2 haben eine Lagoon 450 und wollen sich ein paar  Jahre Auszeit nehmen - allerdings haben sie mit ihrer Lagoon wirklich Pech und warteten bereits seit Wochen auf ein Ersatzteil für das Steuerrad.

As we were berthing there were two helpful germans, Martin and Nicole from the SY Tapati and we understood us right away. And thats how we drank some beers and spent some time together. These 2 have a Lagoon 450 and wanted to take a break for a couple of years- but sadly they had bad luck with their Lagoon and so they have been already waiting for weeks for a new tool to get out of the harbor.

Rubicon ist eine sehr, sehr schöne Marina mit vielen Bars, Shops und Restaurants und jeden Abend gab es Livemusik.

Wir nutzen die Zeit zum Reinigen, Wäsche waschen und zogen ein neues Fall (Tauwerk zum hissen des Parasailors) in den Mast. Hierzu musste ich in den Mast aufsteigen (22 Meter) und das Fall einziehen.

Rubicon is a very, very pretty marina with a lot of bars, shops and restaurants and live music every night. 

We spent the time with cleaning our boat, doing the laundry and pulled our new Halyard (rope to hold the parasailor) through the mast. Therefore I had to be pulled up the mast (22meters). 

Einen Tag leihen wir uns ein Auto und machten einen Ausflug zu dem Nationalpark: Montanas del Fuegos. Die Landschaft kann mit Michas Worten so beschrieben werden: “Auf der rechten Seite sehen sie nun: ödes schwarzes Land., nun wenden wir uns zur linken Seite und sehen: ödes schwarzes Land!“ Beeindruckend war die Stille und die nicht vorhandene Vegetation.

On one day we rented a car and made a trip to the National park: Montana del Fuegos. The landscaping can be described in Michas words: „On the right side you will see beautiful, boring black land, and as you look on the left side you will see; boring black land!“. Really impressive was the silence and that there were no vegetation at all.

Das Gestein ist so heiß, das Heu sich daran selbst entzündet.

The stone is so hot, that hay will catch fire. 

Auf dem Rückweg schauten wir uns noch die Salzfelder an und besuchten einen Felsengarten.

On our way back we took a look at the salt fields and visited the garden of stones.

Nach einer Woche trafen wir noch, kurz vor unserem Auslaufen, die SY Invictus (Nicole, Tobias und den Mädchen)  und hatten ein kurzes aber herzliches Wiedersehen. Die SY Invictus sowie die SY Tapati überqueren den Atlantik mit der Atlantic Odyssey Sailing Rally von Lanzarote (Arrecife) nach Martinique, ebenfalls Ende November.

After one week we met the SY Invictus, as we wanted to leave the harbor and so we stopped for a little meet again (Nicole, Tobias and the girls). The SY Invictus and SY Tapati will cross the atlantic ocean as well, but with the Atlantic Odyssey Sailing Rally from Lanzarote (Arrecife) to Martinique, also in November.

Wir starteten um 14.30 Uhr in Lanzarote und hatten 157 Seemeilen vor uns – das längste Seestück für Petra. Wir hatten tolles Wetter, Petra hat „nur“ 1x die Fische gefüttert – Seekrankheit ist wirklich übel...

We started at 2.30pm in Lanzarote and had 157 mailes ahead of us- the longest sailing trip for Petra. We had good weather, Petra „only“ had to throw up once- being seasick stinks....

Mit voller Besegelung geht es in die Nacht.

Will all the sails up we sailed into the night. 

Nach einer ruhigen Nacht, an Gran Canaria vorbei, haben wir morgens die Angel ausgebracht und eine schöne Bernsteinmakrele gefangen. 

After an quiet night, as we passed Gran Canaria, we brought out the fishing rod and caught an beautiful amberjack.

Den gab dann ganz frisch mit Kartoffelgratin (von Petra) frisch gebraten.

We grilled and ate it fresh with a nice potatoe casserole (from Petra)

Teneriffa kommt in Sicht und der Teide erwartet uns bereits:

Um 16.00 Uhr machen wir in San Miguel auf Teneriffa fest -  morgen kommt mein Bruder!

At 4pm we berthed in San Miguel in tenerife- tomorrow my brother will come!
