Lissabon mit dem Dinghy - Besuch auf der SY Invictus (Lisboa with the dinghy- a visit on the SY Invictus)

Bevor wir uns auf den Weg nach Madeira machten, besuchten wir die SY Invictus mit Tobias, Nicole und ihren 2 Töchtern Marlene(3  Jahre) und Juliane (2 Jahre). Die zwei Mädchen haben uns richtig Freude gemacht – zum Abschied hat jeder von uns ein selbstgemaltes Bild bekommen.

Before we started our trip to Madeira, we wanted to visit the SY Invictus with Tobias, Nicole and their two girls Marlene (3years) and Juliane (2years) on board. The two girls really made fun- and for the goodbye we both got a self drawn picture from them. 

Wir haben Tobi in Kiel während eines Vorbereitungswochenendes zum Thema Motorkunde und: „Wie helfe ich mir selbst als Fahrtenseglern!“ von Volvo Penta in Kiel kennengelernt. Während der Vorstellungsrunde erzählten wir, dass wir eine Lagoon 400 erworben haben und 14 Monate segeln wollen und dann erzählte Tobi, dass er ebenfalls eine Lagoon 52 gekauft hat und mit seiner Family auf Langfahrt geht.

We met Tobi in Kiel during a preparation weekend on the topic of engines and: “how do I help myself on sea!?“ (Volvo Penta). During the introducing round we explained, that we bought a new 400 Lagoon and were planing on sailing for 14 month. And then Tobi said, he also bought a new Lagoon, a 520, and is also planing to go on a long sailing trip with his family. 

Wir gingen nach dem Workshop noch etwas essen und haben uns während der nächsten Monate darüber ausgetauscht, Was? sollte man Wo? kaufen und unbedingt mitnehmen (eine schier endlose Liste entstand)…..

We went out for lunch after the first workshop and stayed in touch during the next couple of month and helped each other out with information to where should we buy what and what we definitely need to have on board and and and… 

Nun kam es erstmals zu einem Treffen auf See. Wir lagen noch in Cascais vor Anker, als die Invictus uns mitteilte grad an uns vorbei auf dem Weg nach Lissabon zu sein. Nun sind es 20 Kilometer nach Lissabon und wir entschieden uns, statt eine Stunde mit dem Bus, unser Dinghy (Beiboot mit 20 PS Außenborder) zu nehmen. In 55 Minuten Gleitfahrt ging es nach Lissabon.

Now it came to a first meeting on the sea. We still anchored in Cascais as the Invictus told us, that they are on the way to Lisboa. Well now Cascais is just 20 kilometers away from Lisboa and we decided, instead of driving with the bus, we will take our dinghy (with an 20HP engine) to the Marina. In 55 minutes of pure speed we raced to Lisboa.

Nach einer herzlichen Begrüßung und dem (obligatorischen) Begrüßungsbier haben wir die Invictus besichtigt und waren von Größe und Ausstattung beeindruckt. 52 Fuß Länge (ca. 16 Meter) ist nochmal etwas anderes als unsere 40 Fuß (12 Meter)!

3 Jahre wollen die vier unterwegs sein, ein wirklich tolles Vorhaben.

After an lovely hello and the obligated welcome- beer we took a tour through the Invictus and were impressed by the size and equipment of that boat. 52 feet of length over all (LOA) (about 16meters) is something different than 40 feet LOA (12meters). 

They are planing on being on tour for 3 years around the world, a great plan. 

Wir haben einen tollen Nachmittag mit ihnen verbracht, abends waren wir noch gemeinsam, mit Freunden von Tobias und Nicole, essen und nachdem es doch etwas später wurde, durften wir bei Ihnen - in der Gästekabine – übernachten.

We spent one nice day with them, went out for dinner together with Friends from them and after it became too late to drive back, we were allowed to stay the night in their guest cabin. 

Nach einem tollen Frühstück, (vielen Dank Nicole!) ging es dann wieder zurück auf die First Step. Diese kam uns nun richtig klein vor……….

After an amazing breakfast, (thank you Nicole) did we head back to our First Step. And this time we thought, our boat is very small…
